1137 AM CDT MON JUN 18 2018 - issued by the NWS NOLA/BR ...A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT WESTERN ORLEANS... SOUTHEASTERN POINTE COUPEE, NORTHEASTERN LAFOURCHE, JEFFERSON... SOUTHWESTERN EAST BATON ROUGE, ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, ASCENSION... ST. JAMES, ST. CHARLES, WEST BATON ROUGE, SOUTHERN LIVINGSTON... SOUTHEASTERN IBERVILLE, NORTHWESTERN PLAQUEMINES AND NORTHEASTERN ASSUMPTION PARISHES... At 1136 AM CDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Paincourtville to 8 miles northwest of Barataria to 11 miles southwest of Port Sulphur. Movement was northwest at 35 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with these storms. Locations impacted include... New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Port Allen, Reserve, Metairie, Hahnville, Laplace, Marrero, Oak Hills Place, Avondale, Harvey, Timberlane, Belle Chasse, Jefferson, Gretna and Harahan. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.Â
