1127 AM CDT TUE JUL 31 2018 ...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST, EAST CENTRAL ASCENSION, ST. JAMES AND NORTHWESTERN LAFOURCHE PARISHES... At 1126 AM CDT, a strong thunderstorm was located near North Vacherie, or 12 miles north of Thibodaux, moving northeast at 15 mph. Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with this storm. Locations impacted include... Reserve, Laplace, Gramercy, Lutcher, Wallace, Edgard, South Vacherie, Convent, North Vacherie, Garyville, Chackbay and Killona. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
